Girls basketball, Girls Varsity Basketball · Girls Basketball season ends in 2nd Round playoffs

On February 14, 2019, the 2018-19 season ended at El Dorado High  in Placerville for the Mustangs Girls Varsity basketball squad as they came up short 55-70 in a hard-fought competitive 2nd Round playoff game.

El Dorado kept the pressure going from the beginning and jumped out to a 27-16 lead by the end of the 1st quarter. They kept it up with a 17-9 2nd quarter.

But to the Mustangs credit and a testament to their never give-in team attitude, the Mustangs won the 3rd and 4th quarters, playing tough defense and leaving it all on the court. Once the game ended, the realization the season was over hit home in an emotional locker room.

Senior Andrea Garcia ended her high school career by scoring 36 points, the most scored in a single game in MHHS Girls basketball history. She finishes her high school basketball career as the all-time leader in points (1372), assists (497), rebounds (482) and steals (344), a four-year starter and 4 time All-League selection. “Andie” and fellow seniors Taylor Tametas-Arenas, Lalique Perkins and Dallas Carpenter have left an indelible mark for future generations to look up to.

Congratulations to the 2018-19 Girls Varsity Basketball squad for reaching the 2nd Round of the Playoffs for the first time in our program’s history!
