The Mustangs hosted Union Mine (El Dorado) in the 1st round of the CIF-SJS playoffs. The took the first half to feel each other out and the game was close at the half with the Mustangs leading 19 to 18. The second half was a different story as Mountain House opened up the offense while playing stellar defense. The offense saw several Mustangs gash the Diamondbacks defense as the team put up 397 yards on the ground and 5 touchdowns. RB Vladik Sutherland lead all rushers with 16 carries for 184 yards and 3 TD’s. QB Jesse Jordan rushed 15 times for 71 yards and a score, while completing 14 of 22 for 130 yards and 3 Touchdown Passes. Elias Escobar and carried the ball 8 times for 60 yards and Junior RB Elijah McLaurin rushed 7 times for 75 yards. The Defense was once again lead by Middle Linebacker Troy Clegg, he tallied 22 tackles, 2 for a loss, 1 sack, 2 pass defended, and 1 interception. The Mustangs picked off Union Mine 4 times in the second half, essentially shutting down the Diamondbacks offense.
Put another “First” in the record book, this was Mountain House’s first playoff game, first one hosted, and first victory. The Mustangs, now 10-1 on the season, travel to old TVL rival, Ripon High School. The Mustangs will take on the Indians this Friday, November 9th at 7 pm.
