Lady Mustangs Girls Varsity basketball earned a tough victory over Tracy High 51-47 on Tuesday December 4, 2018 at Tracy High. From the outset, both teams played scrappy.

The Mustangs changed the starting lineup with junior Kayleen Ramos and sophomore Maya Gorman starting their first games at Varsity. In and up and down first half, Mountain House was down 16-12 at the end of the first quarter and down 25-20 at the half with highlights being senior Andrea Garcia’s 6 points, Ramos and Gorman with 4 points each, junior Natalia Moore-Raygoza’s 2 points and sophomore Reilyn Ursal with 2 points.

In the second half, the Mustangs won the third quarter 17-10 sparked by consecutive 3 pt makes by Moore-Raygoza that stretched the lead.

As expected, the Bulldogs did not back down in the 4th quarter, but pivotal 3-pt makes by senior Dallas Carpenter, junior Katelyn Larson and another by Moore-Raygoza kept Tracy from overtaking Mountain House. A key 2 pt make by senior Lala Perkins kept the momentum on the Mustangs side. When Gorman made a free throw with 13.2 seconds on the clock, the Mustangs iced their first win of this young season.

With the Mustangs emphasis on improving team rebounding, Kayleen Ramos is awarded Player of the Game finishing with 6 pts and a career high 16 rebounds in her first Varsity start!

Mountain House now prepares for the Lodi High Tournament, starting with a matchup on Thursday December 6 against Weston Ranch.
